From the Wheelhouse:

In the words of Rory from Scotland on todays tour upon seeing the humpback whale 'KC'...."oh my golly gosh!"  What a day we had on the water today....Telegraph Cove and area proves to be one of the most diverse ecosystems on the coast of British Columbia.  Today we saw humpback whales, minke whales, bow-riding Dall's porpoise, harbour seals and Steller sea lions.

The humpback whales were lunge feeding in the thickest concentration of krill that we have seen in many years.  We had incredible luck to chance upon pigeon guillemot's coming out of the nest at the Weynton Islands.  They nest in cracks between rocks and have very red insides to their mouths so the chicks can see them in these dark cracks.  Lots of Black oyster catchers; white-winged scoters and hundreds of Northern phalaropes.

Captain Wayne's quote of the day:

"To believe in something not yet proved...underwrite it with our lives.  It is the only way we can leave the future open."  Lillian Smith
