From the Wheelhouse:

This morning the C6 and C10 matrilines of fish-eating killer whales (Residents) came into the area.  By the afternoon the A12's travelled at high speed to catch up with the C6's and C10's.

They joined in a huge line with so many whales we think the A8's and A23's may have joined with them as well!   By the end of the afternoon even more killer whales had come into the area.  Lots of behaviours that are associated with socializing...like tail slapping, fantastic vocals and rubbing on the beaches in the ecological reserve.

We also had a humpback whale, Steller sea lions, Dall's porpoise and a few Pacific white-sided dolphlins in among the resident orca.   Oh what a day!
