From the Wheelhouse:
It was a day of tranquility and beautiful light. We came across the A12 matriline just outside Telegraph Cove. They milled peacefully waiting for the I11's and A30's to join them. It was an incredibily privileged look at the whales as they logged on the surface waiting. When they reunited they were so social, we even heard vocalizing on the surface.
Later in the day we would come across a huge resting line of killer whales which included the A23's and A24's. Amazing to be able to see killer whales, a minke whale and two humpbacks in the same view while hearing the Steller sea lions growling in the background.
As if that still weren't enough, another humpback (new to us) breached and tail & pectoral fin slapped repeatedly. Peregrine falcon attack on gulls and the first flight of an eagle chick topped of an absolutley fabulous day!
Jackie's quote for today:
"Who needs a quote of the day when the whales have been this good!." Jackie Hildering
