From the Wheelhouse:

Huge excitement today to see that the humpback BCY0177 has a calf.  A tale of amazing resilience as this humpback whale has the scars that show it was hit terribly by a boat.  We witnessed the calf learning to lunge feed at the surface amidst 100's of birding including sooty shearwaters, leeches and fork tailed storm petrels, common murre fathers and their chicks and ancient murrelets.

As if that weren't enough we had the very rare sighting of an elephant seal.  The A12 matriline of resident killer whales were in the area today and we observed travelling, foraging and resting lines all grouped together moving slowly to the east.  Wonderful lighting today for the avid photographers, calm seas and sunshine!

Captain Wayne's quote of the day:

"Navigation is what tells you where you are even when you aren't."
