Yesterday in the early afternoon RobinQuirk from Alert Bay gave the report of a group of killer whales in front of the Bay and heading towards Telegraph Cove.  Captain Jim went out to try and identify the whales as resident (fish eating) or transient (marine mammal eating) for the whale scientists.  He managed to positively identify the following: T002; T002C; T020; T021; T123; T002C1; T002C2; T023D.  It was a fabulous day for going on the water as it was sunny and calm seas.

Graeme Ellis, DFO's whale researcher said the same group of whales were reported in the Victoria area a couple of days before.  This group of whales headed east in Johnstone Strait at a good speed.  ID photos have been sent to the researchers at the biological station and we will  be awaiting their report.
