From the Wheelhouse:

Today we had the pleasure of hosting the Vancouver Aquarium and guests on a fund raising tour in the Broughton and Blackfish Archipelagos.  Proceeds from this tour go to further wild killer whale research.

It was a little breezy today, but we did manage some time with about 5 humpback whales.  Lots of bait in the area and tremendous feeding with not only the humpbacks but seagulls and eagles all fighting for the same fish!   One peregrine falcon and possibly two were after the gulls and their lunch as well.  The falcons have been after the phaloropes lately and Captain Jim saw one get a common murre....

We had a great visit with the Steller sealions and due to the wind we went into the islands.   During lunch in a calm bay we extended congratulations to Bryan and Alicia as he proposed marriage to her on the bow of the Lukwa!   After cheers we cruised up Clio Channel to Karlukwees Village on Turnour Island to show our guests the pictographs just east of the village.

The sunshine and beautiful scenery topped off a beautiful day!

Thank you so much for the notation of Bryan and Alicia's engagement! He couldn't think of a more meaningful place to pop the question after all the years they have been going on this tour with the Aquarium.

    Thank you,

    Lori - Bryan's Mom
